Am Mittwoch, 24.04.2024, findet im Iwalewahaus ein Tag zum Thema "Sounding African Music Heritage statt". Die Veranstaltung gliedert sich in eine Diskussionsrunde, eine öffentliche Filmvorführung und ein Konzert.

Podiumsgespräch: 24.04.2024, 14.00 Uhr, Iwalewahaus. Veranstaltungssprache ist Englisch. Der Eintritt ist frei. Eine Anmeldung ist nicht erforderlich.

Der Tag beginnt um 14 Uhr mit einem öffentlichen Podiumsgespräch zum Thema: Musikethologie und African Studies und ihre mögliche Rolle in der Erhaltung von Immateriellen Kulturerbe (Gespräch auf Englisch), mit:

·       Dr. Lee Watkins, Direktor der International Library of African Music, Rhodes University, Südafrika

·       Prof. Barbara Alge, Professorin für Musikethnologie, Goethe Universität Frankfurt

·       Prof. Daniel Avorgbedor, University of Ghana

·       Dr. Cassandra Mark-Thiesen, Universität Bayreuth

·       Dr. habil. Markus Coester, Universität Bayreuth

Nach einer 2-stündigen Pause beginnt der 2. Teil der Veranstaltung (Filmvorführung und Konzert) um 18 Uhr (s. separater Veranstaltungseintrag)

On Wednesday, 24.04.2024, a day on the topic of "Sounding African Music Heritage" will take place at the Iwalewahaus. The event is divided into a panel discussion, a public film screening and a concert. 

Panel discussion: 24.04.2024, 14.00, Iwalewahaus. The event language is English. Admission is free. Registration is not required. 

The day begins at 2 pm with a public panel discussion on the topic: Music Ethology and African Studies and their potential role in the preservation of Intangible Cultural Heritage (discussion in English), with:

- Prof. Barbara Alge, Professor of Ethnomusicology, Goethe University Frankfurt 

- Prof. Daniel Avorgbedor, University of Ghana
