Following the success of the Model African Union Bayreuth Conference in 2022, we are pleased to announce the 2025 edition of the conference, focusing on a critical and timely topic:
"Africa and the Shifting Geopolitical Landscape: Tackling Insecurities and Seizing Opportunities in a Multipolarizing World."
This conference, taking place from April 23-27, 2025, at the University of Bayreuth (Germany), will explore Africa’s role in the evolving global order. It will examine both the challenges posed by shifting geopolitical dynamics and the opportunities emerging for the continent. Thought leaders, policymakers, and experts from Africa and beyond will participate and enrich the overall experience of the event.
The theme of this year’s conference is particularly relevant, as Africa navigates significant internal geopolitical changes amid a shifting global order marked by the rise of multiple power centers and the decline of unipolar or bipolar dominance. The formation of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) and growing competition from global players such as the EU, China, Russia, and the U.S. are expected to impact Africa’s political and security landscape. However, these dynamics also present opportunities to reshape international cooperation and enhance Africa’s global standing.
